About me

I am a full time mama first and foremost, to two really fun, wild kids - Cooper and Emma.  I love them so much that sometimes it feels like my heart will explode into tiny bits of miniature emoji hearts.  I don't profess to be some kind of expert in parenting, I'm just here to share my experience.  I am a strong believer in moms supporting moms and despise mom-shaming.  Every kid is different, every parent is different and a very wise person once told me "no one really knows what they're doing, and if they say they do, they're lying."

We live in beautiful Hawaii and feel so lucky to be here.  For about ten years prior, I lived in Seattle to complete my degree to become a pharmacist.  I met my husband while at the University of Washington, then decided to move to the Aloha State after getting married there (this is my home and where I was born and raised).  I continue to work as a pharmacist full-time.  It's not an easy job but it has its rewards in its own way.

Some of my favorite pastimes include arts and crafts, sewing, fashion, shopping and styling cute outfits for my kids.  I love teeny tiny things like terrariums and fairy gardens and microscopic plastic ninjas from Archie McPhee's.  I have a decent mini gudetama collection and a penchant for blind bags.  I also love anything Disney related and am regularly planning throughout the year for our next family Disney vacation.  I suppose that has something to do with the kid in me, which even at my age, simply won't fade!  I really am a child at heart and sometimes forget I'm 39.  Rubber cockroaches and fart machines still entertain me for long periods of time.  Laughter is so important in this life, so I try my best not to take it too seriously.

I am also very socially awkward.  I have deep insecurities carved out from a young age, and though I try my best not to carry them around with me, they are lifelong scars that may never heal completely.  So though I may seem like a complete extrovert in my social media and blogging, I am actually in person quite anxious and awkward.  My face will not necessarily emote what I feel inside, or think in my head.  This is my disclaimer for if you ever meet me in person and feel disappointed!  But I am working on things like that, like perfecting my style of hugging (I admit, I am a repeat offender of the arm's-length-back-pat hug) and smiling more.

Juggling this blog with everything else is tough, but it's worth it to me because I love writing!  Writing is my passion.  So I started this blog on a whim while on vacation as a way for me to do what I love, and it kind of spiraled into something else so we'll see where it takes me!  For now, I want to thank you for clicking and ending up here.  Even if it was for a moment or if you actually read a blog post - whatever the reason, I appreciate you spending that time reading something I wrote.  You have a heart shaped space in my heart that will stay there forever.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why do you do so many giveaways?  Do you pay for all of them?

I love giving, whether big or small, to someone, anyone, even if it brings them a tiny glint of joy or a huge burst of happiness.  And yes, there is the obvious factor of wanting to drum up some visits too so I won't deny that either!  I am usually the one hosting a giveaway but sometimes a very gracious sponsor of a product I'm reviewing will be so kind to offer their own product for a giveaway.

Are all your product reviews sponsorships or collaborations?

No.  But, I do agree to do product reviews in exchange for actual product sometimes. This doesn't detract from my honesty, though.  I always try my best to give you my most objective review of a product.  If it doesn't suit me or my needs, or I feel like it is downright useless, I would simply not post a review of the product, or I wouldn't even agree to it if I thought it seemed like a bad fit for me.

Why can't you stick to one topic on your blog?

Because I love so many things!  And it would be hard for me to just write about one thing for the rest of my life.  I tried to in the beginning and I felt it really limited my potential to write about stuff I really want to write about.  I can imagine for most people too, that changes with time, so I'd rather give myself more room for that change than limit myself to just a few topics or one.

What do you love most about being a mom?

While being a parent definitely comes with its own challenges, motherhood is something I would never trade for anything in this world because it has taught me so much.  My kids have changed me to the core, they have shown me that anything is possible and that with love, the sky is the limit!

Where do you stand on blogging and privacy?

Initially, I started this with all my guards up.  I even considered creating aliases for my kids names and I don't blame parents who continue to do that.  But then I realized that keeping too much private is a major roadblock to connecting with people out there, who I can share with and who I can learn from myself.  And while it took lots of deep thought, practical discussions with my husband and feedback from other moms out there, I am still learning everyday how to deal with this issue.  For the time being, I think it's ok for me to share some things on my blog and social media.  And I am always open to your input if you have helpful information for me!  I do want to add, that not all I experience makes its way to this public space, as is the case with most people.  So what you see is not necessarily a complete picture of my life, because that is simply how it goes with social media and public domain.  If I truly felt someone were negatively affected by what I post, I would immediately reconsider.
